I wait half dozen hours take out the screws, and go along going. I think 20 hours is more for throwing them on the truck, people dancing on elevation of them, and taking a fall from the top of the stage kind of thing.

Since PL premium is very almost unobtanium* here I have used a diverseness of other glues. Lately I've pretty much settled on "No More than Nails", together with white gum for larger areas such as glueing 1 inch strips of plywood. I accept also tried PL 400 which is probably the same as PL Premium Advanced. It volition glue anything from wood to brick walls (some back up walls in our garden are held together with PL 400, every bit recommended by the concrete block manufacturer.)

No matter which, I've used a combination of screws and clamps to keep building while the glue sets. A few screws by necessity are left for good simply because there's no way to go them out.

But when the building is complete in that location'due south every reason to allow it sit down until it's completely cured. Otherwise you run a very existent risk of compromised forcefulness.

* I've now ordered a couple of PL Premium tubes from Leland every bit I was ordering piezos anyway. It's just insane that the cost of the piezos, cross overs, glue, plastic corners and adjustable tophats with shipping comes out cheaper than just sourcing the piezos locally.

- This is madness!
- This is LELAND!

I tried PL400 once out of curiosity, and it's nothing like PL Premium Advanced. While a great product for it'southward intended purposes (PL400), it'southward useless for speaker box building. Information technology stays permanently flexible.

Well, the PL400 I used doesn't wait like your PL400.

And while it isn't sandable, I wouldn't call it flexible. Just slightly forgiving towards movement. Probably not a good choice if y'all demand to bridge 1/iv of an inch, just I've never had more than than perchance 1mm gap when I build.

Then once again I don't recommend using it. Takes too long to dry and leaves a mess without much benefit. I e'er utilize water based glue if information technology's possible. Particularly when working indoors :noob:

? PL Premium stays permanently flexible. It even says information technology will on the bottle.

I'd however stick with PL Premium, anyhow. If it's skillful enough for Mike Holmes, it's good enough for speaker boxes.

What led me to conclude that the PL400 stayed flexible was being able to dig a finger nail into the bead long later on information technology was practical, unlike PL Premium. I used it as an inside corner bead for an O15 mid horn. I chose it because it was a not expanding PL product, only in hindsight I wouldn't take used it.

I built one OT15 using the Tremco PL400 that Rune is talking about, and for the other I used Tremco PL600. Both worked just fine. Sure it doesn't dry very quickly simply I was in no hurry.

I've used the PL600 too. H2o based, then a lot less trouble to work with. My favorite right now is Pattex "No More Nails". Applied liberally and using my fingers to smooth the excess as caulking. But information technology doesn't aggrandize, so if the joint opens slightly when you release the clamps it won't fill the resulting gap.

I'm now eagerly awaiting the PL Premium from Leland. FedEx says it should be here by Fri, and and so I'll find out what all the hoopla is about. I'yard secretly hoping it will prove to exist nothing much, every bit that would indicate my wood working skills are a cutting higher up the rest. :fingers:

lol...well considering my wood working skills(and tools) aren't the best, and pl premium was able to brand my whole cab air tight. I'd say its pretty adept hehe. Kinda sucks that the only air leak i had was coming from the gasket on the woofer, only i suppose that's good at the aforementioned time.
